Glory ready to face the unknown in final tour game

Head Coach Tony Popovic has admitted that he does not know quite what to expect from the Sarawak State Team that Glory are set to face in their second and final Malaysia Tour game.

The men in purple coasted to a 7-1 win over local Premier League outfit Sarawak FA in their opening tour hit-out and a number of the opposition players from that game are poised to back up and feature again at Stadium Negeri on Wednesday evening.

But regardless of who his charges are up against, Popovic is adamant that Glory will be focusing purely upon themselves and looking to round off a highly-productive trip with another positive performance.

“We really don’t know who we’ll be facing,” he said, “but that’s not a concern for us.

“It’s another chance to get some game minutes into our players in challenging conditions and continue to develop what we’ve been working on in training in a game environment.

“The trip has been a good one both in terms of the work that we’ve done here and in terms of everyone, staff and players alike, getting to know each other better.

“We’ve been treated extremely well by everyone here and now we’re looking to finish off the trip on a high this evening.”

The game could see Tomislav Mrcela make his starting debut for the club having been introduced from the bench against Sarawak FA, with youngsters Walter Scott, Chok Dau, Henry Hore, Yagoub Mustafa and Zayd Farah also in the frame to enjoy some more game time.
