Glory makes bid to host FFA Cup Final

Perth Glory FC can confirm it has submitted its application to Football Federation Australia to host the Westfield FFA Cup Final at nib Stadium on November 7.

Glory is just one win away from securing its second successive Cup Final appearance when it takes on Melbourne City at nib Stadium tomorrow night in the Cup Semi-Final.

Last year the club had no option but to travel to South Australia and play the final against Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium, forcing many passionate fans to travel interstate.

Club CEO Peter Filopoulos said Western Australia had a solid case for an FFA Cup Final to be held in Perth.

“It would be an indictment on the governing body not to host the final in Perth, should Glory qualify for back-to-back Cup Finals. It would be an enormous opportunity for the club to re-engage with its fans and members and help generate wider support for the game in the West” Filopoulos said.

“We believe there would be a strong crowd in attendance for an FFA Cup Final in Perth, of at least upwards of 16-thousand which is more than what Coopers Stadium in Adelaide holds” he said.

“The passion and support for football was evident at the recent Socceroos match against Bangladesh at nib Stadium, so we feel that hosting a Cup Final in Perth is a chance for locals to support their team as it competes for its first silverware in tje Hyundai A-League era”.

The FFA is expected to make its decision within the next week, pending the outcome of the Semi Final of the Westfield FFA Cup.

Kick-off is at 6.30pm
