Glory Looking to Roar Ahead

Perth Glory FC custodian Danny Vukovic has urged his team mates to take advantage of their winning form, as they prepare for a two game road trip against Brisbane Roar and Sydney FC.

The former Young Socceroo and Olyroo is in his fourth season at Glory and has carved a reputation as a match winner and pillar of strength.

Vukovic says that Glory- which sits one point clear at the top of the Hyundai A-League table- will need to be mentally tough in the match against A-League champions Brisbane, at Suncorp Stadium this weekend.

“They’re desperate to get points” Vukovic said.

Glory will face a Roar side that sits 15 points behind Glory and who earlier this week sacked coach Mike Mulvey.

“And now they’re on a level playing field and they’re going to want to  impress their new coach” Vukovic stressed.

“It’s not going to be easy, a new coach brings a new philosophy… they’re playing for positions now, so we really got to be up for it on Saturday”.

“We can’t really worry about that, we just worry about our own game plan if they’re on top or on the bottom, it’s going to be a tough match every time we play them” he said.

The 29-year old goal keeper  admitted going to Brisbane was not a happy hunting ground for Glory and this match was enough motivation to buck the trend.

“I think we’ve only had one win there maybe two, but it’s always a close game, it’s humid there a bit of a different heat that we’re not used to so we’re looking forward to the challenge “.

“It’s also a chance to further our lead at the top we can really put daylight between us and some of the teams in the competition so it’s a great incentive” he said.

Coach Kenny Lowe will have a tough time choosing the squad, as Brazilian Sidnei Sciola pushes for selection, after overcoming an off-season calf injury and young striker Jamie Maclaren will also be doing his best to get the attention of the coach, after being omitted from last week’s match against Wellington Phoenix.

Kick-off against Brisbane is at 2 p.m. WST on Saturday, November 29.

Glory returns to nib Stadium on Friday, December 12 to host the Newcastle Jets.
