Perth Glory has maintained its unbeaten pre-season run following a dramatic come from behind 2-2 draw against former Asian Champions Iraq at Dalmatinac Park in Spearwood last night.

After trailing 2-0 at the end of half-time, two goals in three minutes from youngster Kosta Petratos and veteran Richard Garcia, salvaged the score-line for the Western Australians.

The friendly fixture, played behind closed doors, was used as an important warm-up for Iraq which meets the Socceroos in next week’s World Cup qualifier at nib Stadium.

It was also a good hit out for Glory which is preparing to host Sydney FC in next Tuesday’s RD of 16 FFA Cup match at Dorrien Gardens in North Perth.

The match started off sprightly and Glory was in the thick of the action.

Star striker Andy Keogh had a good chance early in the first-half to get Glory into the lead but his left boot scuffed the shot, and didn’t trouble Iraq’s goalkeeper.

Glory conceded an own goal in the 30th minute and just before the stroke of half time Mohammed Showkan doubled the lead for the visitors.

In the second 45’ Glory sent in mainly a second eleven comprising its youth team.

Goalkeeper Liam Reddy also played a starring role and was forced to make some impressive saves across his goalmouth to keep Glory in the match.

However the youngsters held their never and Joe Knowles was brought down in the penalty area with nine minutes to go, prompting referee Chris Beath to point to the spot kick.

Petratos stepped-up and in a cool, calm and collected fashion hit the ball into the back of the net.

Three minutes later, Garcia met a cross from the left at the top of the box and with geometric precision, steered the ball into the top corner, helping his team draw level.

Glory will now focus on its FFA Cup fixture against the Sky Blues and will aim to maintain its unblemished record at Dorrien Gardens on Tuesday August 30.

Ticekts to the match can be purchased HERE  and at the gate (Gates open 5.30).

Kick-off is at 6.30 pm and the match will be streamed live on the Fox Sports website.
