Glory duo Jackson Lee and Jacob Italiano have both been named in the Australia Under-18 squad for this month’s SBS Cup International Youth Tournament.

The event will take place in Japan between August 16th and August 19th, with the young Aussies due to play Paraguay, Japan and a local Shizuoka Selection side.

Socceroos Assistant Coach Ante Milicic will take charge of the squad at the tournament which forms a key part of their preparations for the AFC Under-19 Championship set to take place in Indonesia later this year.

“We’re thankful to the hosts and organisers of the SBS Cup for extending an invitation to us for this tournament,” he said.

“Playing against strong under-18 teams from Japan and Paraguay will test this group of boys individually and collectively and provide us with the opportunity to benchmark them against their peers on an international level.”

Glory Football Director Jacob Burns, meanwhile, feels that the tournament will provide invaluable experience for Lee and Italiano who will leave the club’s trip to Malaysia in order to fly directly to Japan.

“It’s fantastic to see Jackson and Jacob earning this international recognition,” he said.

“It’s a great reward for their hard work and also another feather in the cap for our PGFC Academy and the dedication of its coaching staff.

“There’s no better feeling than being selected to represent your country and I’m sure the lads will do themselves, Glory and Australia proud.”
