Perth Glory FC is proud to report that three coaches have been promoted within our expanding Community and Development department.

• Michael Garcia – Senior Community and Development Officer
• Mark McClements – Community and Development Officer
• Dan Cappellaro – Community and Development Coach

Each coach is well known in Western Australia for high levels of professionalism, extensive knowledge of youth development and an unrivaled passion and commitment to growing the game at all levels.

Michael Garcia holds the main responsibilities of managing the Let-s Play Fourz (Primary Schools) program, co-ordinating the Northern area of the Summer Development Program and coaching within all other programs.

McClements and Cappellaro are all coaching within the Let-s Play Fourz, Glory Skills, Glorious Fourz, Soccer Schools and Summer Development Program.

McClements commented,

“I-m very happy to join the team and extremely excited about continuing to develop the youth of Western Australia”

A main component of McClements and Cappellaro-s new responsibilities involve delivering sessions FREE OF CHARGE to the Member Federations of Western Australia. Both coaches are available to run sessions with Grassroots Players and Coaches to increase the amount of resources available to coaches and volunteers currently working with the age groups of U6 – U10.

Whilst the sessions are not described as Coach Education, PGFC aim for McClements and Cappellaro to provide the junior coaches with more ideas and methods of coaching U6 – U10-s in line with their current qualifications and experience in the game. McClements, most notably, having worked professionally in a similar program in England called the FA Skills program.

Community and Development Manager Callum Salmon explained,

“We are very lucky to have individuals of the enthusiasm, experience and background of our two new coaches. Mark has an extensive background in youth development with the FA in England and Dan is very competent at demonstrating difficult techniques that are of paramount importance to developing junior footballers co-ordination and skill level. I-m looking forward to working with them on a more regular basis.”
