Glory call to action

Perth Glory Owner and Chairman, Tony Sage, has called on the Perth football family and the wider community to turn out in force at Members Equity Stadium on Wednesday night for a massive double header featuring two English Premier League teams.

There will be more than $100 million dollars of football royalty on show and Mr Sage said there has never been a better opportunity to pack the venue and deliver a strong message to key stakeholders, including the State Government, that Perth needs a world class rectangular stadium.

“The decision makers need to see that a redeveloped Members Equity Stadium will be utilised by the Perth public,” said Mr Sage.

“As a club we are doing everything we can to convince the State Government that we need a stadium that is capable of hosting the best teams from around the globe, including World Cup games, however the support of the public is the critical element.

“We have two teams from the world-s best football competition in town to play on the one night, that-s unprecedented in this state. All the ingredients are there and now it is up to West Australians to vote with their feet.”

Mr Sage said the 11,083 supporters who turned out to see Glory play Wolverhampton Wanderers last Friday created a wonderful atmosphere and impressed the visitors with their enthusiasm and good natured support.

“We are fortunate to have a dedicated group of members and fans and I-d like to thank them for turning out and supporting the first of these two big nights of action,” said Mr Sage.

“We look forward to seeing them again on Wednesday and hope they-ll be joined by even more of Perth-s renowned passionate sporting public.

“I-m looking forward to a massive night for football in Western Australia,” Mr Sage said.

A fine day is forecast for Wednesday and tickets will be available at the gate but to avoid long queues you can secure your seats now by calling 136 100 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.au (click here).
