Glory to attack with pace

Perth Glory Coach Dave Mitchell has given his side a further injection of pace as they prepare to tackle Sydney FC on Sunday. Glory speed machine Jimmy Downey returns to the squad while pre-season surprise packet Anthony Skorich has been promoted from the club-s Youth Team.

It will be the second time that Mitchell has called on Skorich this season following his first taste of Hyundai A-League action in round one. The 18 year old striker has a keen eye for goal and adds to a Glory side boasting plenty of scoring power.

The Glory has been forced into a minor reshuffle this week with the versatile Jamie Harnwell ruled of the clash against Sydney with a sore hip. Harnwell made a substitutes appearance against the Jets last week after undergoing pre-season hip surgery but aggravated the area at training on Tuesday. With the A-League due to break for a week following Sunday-s round three clash, Harnwell will have ample time to recover before Perth-s next assignment in a fortnight.

On their last visit to New South Wales the Glory stunned Sydney with an impressive 4-2 victory. While that result is in the past the club will head to hostile territory with confidence they have what it takes to win.

“The good thing about the A-League is that it is a big stage every week, Sydney are a good side but we-ll be going over with a focus to secure the three points,” Mitchell said.

“If we can reproduce elements of what we did last week then we will give ourselves every opportunity to get the result,” said Mitchell.
