Garcia: There’s that belief and that confidence

Perth Glory FC has unveiled a one-off 20-year commemorative QBE themed jersey to help celebrate and acknowledge it’s 20-year association with Principal Partner QBE Insurance Australia. The team will wear the special QBE strip against Hyundai A-League leaders Brisbane Roar at nib Stadium this weekend.

The shirt, $20 adult tickets, giveaways and the chance to break into the top-six, coupled with what’s set to be the biggest home crowd of the season, presents a massive opportunity for the club, said captain Richard Garcia.

“We’ve been in good form and hopefully with a big crowd behind us well get the points we want” he said.

Garcia hasn’t played for two weeks due to a knee injury and then a slight groin strain but he said the entire squad, including the return of towering defender Dino Djulbic, was fully fit.

“I’ve had some time off and let the body heal and it’s good the boys are fully fit so there’s lots of competition for spots.

“The confidence is good amongst the boys and everyone is raring to go and the finals spot is within touching distance.

“The younger guys who started this season are finding their feet, had a few months under their belt to get accustomed to the league, we’ve been able to have a stable team which is something that we couldn’t have at the start of the season so I think all those factors are part of it and now there’s that belief and that confidence,” he said.

With fan behaviour captivating the headlines in recent weeks, the Glory skipper praised the WA fans for their behaviour this season. However he warned that the antics of those in the eastern states were not wanted in Perth.

“You wouldn’t expect anything less for the fans to behave and enjoy themselves sing and chant but the behaviour over east isn’t something that we like to see.

“With the 20th anniversary of QBE and $20 tickets it should be a good crowd and atmosphere down there”.

The match kicks-off at 6.40pm on Saturday night and tickets can be purchased HERE.
