Sunday’s football match between Hyundai A-League table toppers Perth Glory FC and title favourites Melbourne Victory, promises to be one of the season’s all time blockbusters.

However it won’t just be about points on the table. It’ll be about the fans and the role they play.

This Australia Day eve, Perth Glory is dedicating the match to the fans and that’s why it’s being hailed as “The People’s Game”.

Featuring a pre-match rock concert, pyrotechnics display, Aussie themed foods, a post-match kick-about where fans can come onto the pitch, plus heaps of prizes including a free solar system courtesy of Carboon Footie and free signed shirts thanks to match-day sponsor Macron, this match will be like no other. Even former Australian of the Year and current number one ticket holder Dawn Fraser will make a special appearance.

Glory captain Michael Thwaite has urged all football fans to turn out to nib Stadium this Sunday.

“We’re on track for a massive home crowd and we want to make it fun and entertaining for the fans. It’s a long weekend and perfect to watch two of the best sides in the competiton” he said.

The team will be wearing the special Australia Day Kit (pictured) created by Perth Glory fan Mark Rossi which is aimed at capturing the pride and passion of being Australian.

“I tried to keep it simple and stick to the state colours of black and gold” Mr Rossi said.

“It was the first time I had a go at designing a strip and fortunately my creation was the most popular and I won the annual kit-design competition” he said.

The Australia Day kit is available for purchase here.

Kick-off is at 5pm, Sunday, January 25.
