The fixtures are out!

The start of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season feels a lot closer after today’s publication of the full fixture list and there is plenty for Glory fans to look forward to.

Highlights include an opening-round home game against old foes Brisbane Roar on Sunday 13 October (with a family-friendly kick-off time of 3pm), a Round 2 visit to league new boys Western United, a Grand Final re-match with Sydney FC at HBF Park in Round 7, two home game against Melbourne Victory (in Rounds 8 and 17), plus a run-in which will see four of the club’s final six games taking place here in the West.

It’s shaping up to be a fascinating seven months of football as Tony Popovic’s men attempt to defend their hard-earned Premiers’ Plate and they’ll chalk up plenty of air miles in the first five rounds which include trips to Western United, Wellington and the club’s most successful away destination, Newcastle.

After a bye in Round 6, hostilities will resume with Sydney FC visiting HBF Park and Glory will roll from late November into early December by making back-to-back trips to Melbourne’s AAMI Park to tackle Victory (29 November) and City (6 December).

Consecutive home games against Wanderers and the Jets form the pre-Christmas schedule and 2019 will be rounded off with the now-traditional New Year’s Eve meeting with the Mariners in Gosford.

Another bye means Glory’s opening game of 2020 will be against Adelaide on Saturday 11 January and then it’s back to the pattern of two away games (Wanderers and City), followed by two home games (Victory and Phoenix).

A third bye is scheduled for mid-February which will hopefully help ease the burden of the club’s Asian Champions League commitments, before a run of three away games out of four heading into March.

As mentioned previously, however, the run-in is much kinder in terms of travel and it culminates on Sunday 26 April when we host the Mariners in Round 29.
