Perth Glory have warmed up for the Hyundai A-League season with a 2-2 draw against Sydney FC at WIN Jubilee Oval in Kogarah, Sydney.

In wet and miserable conditions, Glory twice came back from a goal down in a performance that pleased Coach Ian Ferguson.

“The first 20 minutes we conceded a goal and were under pressure but after that we responded and controlled the play for long spells,” he said.

“We moved the ball around well which was pleasing because we have worked on that in the last few weeks.”

Ferguson also said star recruit Liam Miller was fine despite the midfielder coming off on a stretcher late in the game.

“It-s just cramp, he had a few spasms but is ok.”

Nick Carle opened the scoring for Sydney on 19 minutes when his second attempt from close range beat Danny Vukovic.

Glory equalised 16 minutes later through a clinical finish from Billy Mehmet. Brazilian Andrezinho set up the goal with some magic down the right before squaring it back to Mehmet.

Sydney again took the lead early in the second half through a Brett Emerton penalty but Todd Howarth equalised two minutes later when Sebastian Ryall failed to clear the ball from in front of goal.

Glory will complete their pre-season with a final in-house game in the lead up to the season opener against Adelaide United on October 9 at nib Stadium.
