Ferguson and Fowler fume at controversial decisions

Perth Glory interim head coach and star striker Robbie Fowler have questioned a number of controversial decisions in Sunday’s 1-all draw away to North Queensland Fury.

Perth Glory interim head coach and star striker Robbie Fowler have questioned a number of controversial decisions in Sunday’s 1-all draw away to North Queensland Fury.

Fowler was denied two clear penalties while Naum Sekulovski and Brent Griffiths were both sent off in the second half.

Here are the post match comments.

Ian Ferguson:

“I think the sendings off, a bit of common sense here.

“Red cards are getting thrown about here.

“All credit to the boys who stayed on, we worked hard.

“The boys showed a lot of bottle tonight. I thought they all did, even Robbie Fowler had to come into midfield. Credit to everybody.

“There’s always been good spirit there, it’s just the results have not been there.

We’ll take the point, not happy, but I thought the referee spoiled the game, we were one up and looking very comfortable.”

Robbie Fowler

“We had two blatant penalties.

“The referee sometimes has to be held accountable and some of decisions at times were wrong.

“I think there were two stonewall penalties, I don’t know what else to say. The referee is there to make a decision.”
