Perth coach Dave Mitchell admits the mouth watering match-ups against some of the world-s best players when English Premier League outfits Fulham and Wolverhampton come to town has the Glory playing group buzzing this pre-season.

As the days tick towards the time that the West Australian side tackles the football might of the Premier League, Mitchell said there was plenty of excitement and anticipation amongst his squad.

“Everyone is very much looking forward to the games and pitting their wits against those players,” Mitchell said.

“I watched Wolves play last year in England and they-re a fantastic team and they thoroughly deserved their promotion to the Premiership and determined to give the competition a good shake this season while Fulham had a great year and will be playing in Europe this season.

“I think it will be great experience for our lads and the whole club is looking forward to these games,” said Mitchell.

The matches will also be the first time that Glory supporters can see the club-s quartet of star recruits take the field in Western Australia with Socceroos pair Mile Sterjovski and Jacob Burns, former Premier League defender Andy Todd and Bundesliga striker Branko Jelic all expected to play.

“They-ll be arriving around the same time as the Wolves get here (July 5) which be an exciting period for the club. I expect they-ll gel quickly and play their part against the Premier League clubs on both big nights at Members Equity Stadium,” Mitchell said of his international off-season signings.

Tickets for either night of action are selling well and Mitchell said a full house would provide the perfect atmosphere for such a momentous football event in Western Australia.

“It-s a terrific initiative getting Wolverhampton and Fulham here. I hope WA sports fans get down to Members Equity Stadium and get behind it because if we can make this one a success then we can make it an annual event and continue to have top English and European clubs coming to Perth.”
