Perth Glory FC, Football Federation Australia (FFA), the Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) and Australia’s only national anti-racism charity, All Together Now, have joined forces in the fight against racism.

Widely regarded as Australia-s most multicultural sport, the joint initiative will see Round 21 of the Hyundai A-League become ‘Erase Racism Round-.
The initiative will aim to highlight the commitment of the Hyundai A-League and the players at all clubs in ensuring that racism has no place in the league, football generally or Australian society.
“Unfortunately, around one in five Australians in society were the targets of racial abuse over the past year,” All Together Now Managing Director, Priscilla Brice said. “With one in four Australians born overseas, Erase Racism Round will promote multiculturalism and erasing racism.”
Erase Racism Round was an important step for the Hyundai A-League and football in Australia.
Head of the Hyundai A-League, Damien de Bohun said Erase Racism Round highlighted football-s commitment to tackling racism.
“The Hyundai A-League is determined to ensure that there is no place for racism in Australian football,” De Bohun said.
“The multicultural nature of Australian football has played a huge role in the success of football and initiatives such as Erase Racism Round are an appropriate platform to support multicultural members of the Football Family.”
PFA General Manager Adam Vivian said racism was an issue players were eager to combat.
“Our members are extremely passionate about ensuring football is completely free from racism,” Vivian said.
“Erase Racism Round gives players and football supporters across the country the chance to celebrate Australia-s cultural diversity.”
Hyundai A-League stars from various clubs including our own, Michael Thwaite, took part in a television commercial about tackling racism.
