Perth Glory-s youth team have succumbed to a significantly more experienced Sydney FC side at Seymour Shaw Park with striker Sean Rooney bagging a double in the 3-nil win.

The ladder-leading Sydney, who is unbeaten in six games, started brilliantly to take the lead after just four minutes through Rooney who added his second with 16 minutes remaining before defender Anthony Golec extended the lead right on full time.

The artificial surface at Seymour Shaw Park saw the game played at lightning pace with the home side looking more comfortable from the opening whistle. Midfielder Chris Payne started the move that resulted in the first goal after winning possession in the Glory front third before releasing Brendan Gan who squared the ball for Rooney.

Glory worked their way into the game and created a number of good chances, the best of which came after a cut back header found Reece Vittaglia on the edge of the box but he blasted over just on the half hour mark.

The second half started the way the first began with Sydney putting Glory under the pump but they couldn-t break down a stubborn Perth defence.

A powerful Rooney shot was palmed away by Dejan Aleksic in the Glory goal before Gan pounced on the loose ball but his shot hit the post.

At the other end it was Hayden Doyle who found himself on the end of a set piece for Glory but headed wide. Glory striker Anthony Skoric had two good chances including a low shot that forced a save by Sydney keeper Vedran Janjetovic.

On 67 minutes Glory opened up Sydney with some neat interplay but unfortunately Mark Lee’s cross flew over the bar.

Sydney finally broke the Glory-s resistance when Rooney turned brilliantly in the box to fire a shot off the post in the 74th minute. The home side registered their third with virtually the last kick of the game when Golec finished off a flowing move.
