Perth Glory FC is pleased to announce their support for Dino Djulbic, who will be taking part in this year-s HBF Run for a Reason on Sunday 25 May.

Djulbic, who recently returned to his hometown of Perth and resigned with Perth Glory, will be running to raise funds and awareness for Advanced Melanoma after his father was diagnosed with the cancerous disease last year. He has already received over $1,700 in donations for his cause and is looking to raise in excess of $2000.

Melanoma is a cancer that is more commonly found amongst men than women with the risk of being diagnosed before the age of 85, being one in 14 for men and one in 24 for women. There are over 1500 deaths annually in Australia due to melanoma.

“Over the past several months, my family and I have experienced first-hand the devastating effects that such a disease can have” Djulbic said.

“My father has been the hero in my life. He shares my passion for football, he was a professional player back in Bosnia and a referee in the Sunday amateurs leagues here in Perth. He is a very strong and proud man and his fight against this cancer inspires me more and more, so I want to do all I can to help him recover and to get him back on the football pitch doing what he loves.”

“ Whilst this is a very close and personal matter, the HBF Run for a Reason is a way for me to raise awareness of the disease and to also raise money for Melanoma WA. I would like to thank Perth Glory for their support and would encourage all Glory supporters to be more aware of melanoma which is one of the more serious types of skin cancer and which can be treated if caught early”.
