Different strokes for Harnwell

Perth Glory star Jamie Harnwell has taken time out from the rigours of pre-season training by swapping his kit and boots for a paintbrush and easel as part CelebriArt.

Harnwell is one of a select number of Perth celebrities and local personalities who, in collaboration with local artists, are creating one-of-a-kind artworks. All of the finished masterpieces will be shown in an exhibition and finally auctioned to raise funds for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation on Friday, 5 June.

With help from his artist mentor Amelia, Harnwell designed the work and soon had brush to canvas as he begun painting a landscape piece that is full of symbolism important to Jamie, including family, health and Perth Glory.

Jamie has spent several sessions at Artshed in Balcatta creating the masterpiece and has just put the finishes touches to what he said was his first real attempt at painting.

“I-m really happy to be involved but didn-t know how much I could contribute as I-ve never really been a very artistic person,” Harnwell said.

“It has definitely helped having the advise of a ‘real- artist and once I picked up the brush I enjoyed the experience and am happy with how it has turned out.

“I hope someone might like it sitting on their wall,” he said with a smile.
