Cup preparations continue with State Team clash

Glory face their fourth outing of the pre-season campaign on Wednesday evening when the WA State Team will provide the opposition at Bayswater City’s Frank Drago Reserve (kick off at 7pm, admission FREE).

The traditional annual clash will provide Tony Popovic’s side with a final workout ahead of next Wednesday’s FFA Cup Round of 32 tie against Western Sydney Wanderers at Dorrien Gardens (click HERE for tickets).

Former Glory favourite Jamie Harnwell will again take charge of the 22-man State Team squad which contains at least two players from every NPL WA club, with the exception of Bayswater and Floreat who were both involved in arduous away FFA Cup ties last week.

A number of familiar figures are poised to don the WA black and gold, including Joe Knowles, Yagoub Mustafa, Ollie Annis, Chok Dau and Sam Riak.

Popovic, meanwhile, is expected to name a similarly large squad containing all fit and available first-team players along with a number of the PGFC Academy youngsters who have acquitted themselves so well during the pre-season campaign to date.

Glory won last year’s corresponding fixture 5-2, with Jason Davidson, Diego Castro, Jake Brimmer, Yagoub Mustafa and Chris Harold all finding the net at Inglewood.

There will be no live stream of the game, but highlights will be available on Thursday and there will, as always, be live Twitter coverage HERE.
