Perth Glory is delighted to announce young West Australian defender Jack Clisby has signed a professional contract with the club until the end of the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League season.

Clisby, 20 years old, who grew up supporting Perth Glory, said his elevation from the club-s Youth team is a dream come true.

“It-s certainly a great feeling and something I wasn-t expecting,” a beaming Clisby said.

“Yesterday the gaffer (coach Ian Ferguson) approached me and offered me the opportunity which I-m ecstatic about.

“When I was a young boy, I would come and support Perth Glory with my father, so it-s a great feeling to sign for the club that I-ve always followed.”

Clisby-s signature caps a wonderful six months for the former Sorrento junior, who was awarded the 2012 McInerney Ford Gold medal last October as the State-s best player in the Football West Premier league.

“We-ve always had our eye on Jack and every time I have watched him play in our youth team he-s been impressive,” Perth Glory coach Ian Ferguson said.

“Jack has a good range of passing, reads the game well, links up well and has very good speed.

“Additionally, we have also brought back another talented teenager, Andrew Higgins into our youth team from Portsmouth and hopefully will have another soon.

“So, that-s three young West Australian players that we-ve identified and are promoting to develop for the future of Perth Glory.”

Clisby will wear number 2.
