Perth Glory Football Club has finalised its Hyundai A-League 2016/17 roster following the signing of Sydney born striker Joel Chianese (Kee-ah-KNEE-zee).

The 26-year old heads to Western Australia for the coming season, following a 29 match stint in the Malaysian Premier League during the past 12-months, netting 17-goals.

The former Sydney FC striker is no stranger to WA, having previously trained with the club at the start of last season.

“I’m very happy and excited to have been given a golden opportunity to re-join the Hyundai A-League, particularly with Perth Glory which is already boasting an impressive squad under the stewardship of coach Kenny Lowe” he said.

“Perth is really building something special with a strong mix of local talent and some powerful and experienced foreign players, so it’s quite an honour to be amongst the group” he added.

“My aim is to be part of a historic season for Perth as it gears up to its 20th anniversary, and I will do my utmost to contribute where and when needed”.

Coach Kenny Lowe said Chianese had an impressive strike rate and the attributes to add more firepower to the team.

“Joel helps us in our attack along with Diego Castro, Adam Taggart, Andy Keogh, Chris Harold, Richard Garcia, Jamal Reiners and Kosta Petratos. He’ll be in the mix and he’ll be expected to perform if he’s called on to do so”.

Chianese is the final signing for the club, which already boasts 14 WA born or raised players.

Glory will host Sydney FC in the RD of 16 of the Westfield FFA Cup at Dorrien Gardens in North Perth tonight.

Kick-off is at 6.30pm.
