The tough pre-season camp has received rave reviews from the players, with the new squad also using the time away to get to know each other.
After Wednesday’s match against the Durban Warriors was cancelled because of an unplayable surface at the Sugar Ray Zulu Stadium, the squad will have an in-house game today.
Steven McGarry, Adam Taggart, Evan Berger and Steven Old (on trial) will not be involved because of injury but new Brazilian Andrezinho will play.
Andrezinho is one of 11 new faces at the club this season and everyone except Dean Heffernan (on loan in China) has enjoyed the tour.
“It’s great for team bonding,” Travis Dodd, one of the new recruits said.
“It’s been good to get to know each other and have a laugh in between the training.
“Also, to play a few more games together has also been important.
“As we all know, it’s an unusually long pre-season so the camp has come at the right time.”
Goal keeper Danny Vukovic is also on his first ‘away’ trip with his new club, and like Dodd, Vuka agrees the camp has been extremely worthwhile.
“We are a lot closer after spending two weeks together,” Vukovic said.
“This camp has been first class.
“Great facilities, great training sessions and games against good opposition.”
