Perth Glory captain Jacob Burns has heaped praise on new Qantas Socceroos coach Holger Osieck and his policy to select A-League players.

Burns says Osieck-s confidence in the A-League is great for the development of players and the game in Australia.

“I’m sure they wanted to blood some young guys coming through and I’m all for that.

‘If I’m ever needed to do a job, I definitely won’t say no to it (Qantas Socceroos selection), but I’m very happy with the young guys coming through and I think it’s very important for the national team to be doing that,” Burns said.

While the Glory captain missed out on Qantas Socceroos selection for this Saturday-s international friendly against Paraguay, Burns says his immediate focus is helping Perth get there season back on track.

“I’m not really thinking about it (national team selection), to be honest,” he said.

“My number one priority is Glory and if you get selected for your country it’s an added bonus.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to be there throughout my career and under the new manager he’s picked some A-League players.”
