Perth Glory defender Bas van den Brink is confident he can return to action this weekend when Glory visit Melbourne Heart this Sunday at AAMI Park after missing the last two games due to a hamstring injury.

Keen to get back into the swing of things, the Dutch defender has been working hard on rehabilitation and says he-s feeling fit for the games ahead.

“I-ve been training with the team again, so my hamstring is back to normal,” van den Brink said.

“That-s why I-ve been doing a lot of work at the beginning of the week, and I have also been training with the group just to get my confidence up.

“I-ve also had a lot of testing with our physios to check whether my hamstring is ok.”

The popular defender shed light onto how he pulled up sore after the game against the Newcastle Jets on New Year-s Eve.

“When I made a run forward towards the end I tried to create something or I just got a rush of blood to my head, and going forward was a little bit too much I guess.”

“It shows I should probably stick to the back,” he laughed.

With Perth Glory facing a road-double this weekend, van den Brink is looking forward to the next set of fixtures, starting with the Heart before Wednesday-s rescheduled ‘community- match against Sydney FC in Campbelltown.

“I think we-ve showed through the last 3 games that we-re turning around the season a bit, that-s my feeling about it.”

“It-s important to get good results and I-m excited about the games.

“They will be nice games against the Heart and Sydney.

“They-re always teams that like to play football

“I think they should be attractive games and hopefully it goes in our favour.”

After two games on the road, Perth Glory will see light at the end of the tunnel with a run of home games ahead to finish off the season.

“I don-t mind going away for a bit but long road trips are sometimes a bit of a hassle and hopefully this gets it out of the way.”
