Perth Glory has signed American midfielder Nikki Stanton on a one year deal.

The 24-year-old joins the side after a spell with New Jersey based National Women’s Soccer League side Sky Blue FC, where she played alongside Perth Glory stars Samantha Kerr and Caitlin Foord.

Hailing from North Bend in Washington near Seattle, the midfielder started her career at Mount Si High School, where she was named Female Athlete of the Year.

From there, Stanton moved to Connecticut to Fairfield University, where she earned her move back home to Seattle Sounders Women in 2012.

Playing alongside Women’s World Cup Champions Alex Morgan, Hope Solo and Megan Rapinoe, Stanton was surrounded by the best female football talent in the country during her time with the Sounders.

Eventually a move to Somerset County in New Jersey beckoned, as Stanton joined the Sky Blue FC reserve side.

After impressing in several appearances, she was signed to the first team in 2014 and hasn’t looked back since.

Glory Women’s captain Samantha Kerr said Stanton was an exciting and an important addition to the Perth line-up

“She’s a great player and a great person to have off field and she’s definitely someone you want around the team”.

“She brings a lot of assets to the team, she is a work horse and runs all day for you and we need someone strong like her in the middle of the park” Kerr added.

Stanton will join her new teammates next week, ready to challenge for the Westfield W-League Premiership and Championship.
