Perth Glory defender Josh Mitchell is all smiles after his last minute header against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday secured all three points.

The Glory-s deserved 1-0 win against the Nix in atrocious conditions has now given the team momentum ahead of another tough road trip this weekend against Melbourne Heart and Sydney FC on Wednesday.

“Morale has been good all throughout the season,” Mitchell said.

“That-s something the coaches have instilled and they-ve continually tried to do that throughout the whole season, regardless of results.

“I think now that we-ve got a result on top of that, it-s made it even better for the team and has brought more confidence.”

It will be the third time Perth Glory faces Melbourne Heart this season, with both sides snatching a win on each other-s territory.

Round 2 saw Glory walk away with 2-1 win at AAMI Park, while the Heart reversed that result in round 12 at nib Stadium.

Despite the Heart sitting in third place on the ladder, Mitchell says they are just another team that won-t be feared by the Glory.

“They are nothing to be scared of,” Mitchell said.

“Adelaide beat them comfortably (3-1) the other day and Adelaide were nowhere a month ago. So they are there to be beaten and we need to be confident in our ability.”

With a run of home games heading the Glory-s way, this road double looms as an important week.

Apart from the Mariners who currently sit on 33 points, Mitchell believes that all the other teams are still all very much contenders and sees his Glory boys moving forward with only 12 Hyundai A-League games to go.

“We play well at home without getting all the points, so if we keep playing well at home we can pick up those points.”

“So we just need to get more and more on the road.

“We need to try and do whatever we can to get up around that second spot.

“I think because it-s so tight we can really look at the table and say ‘OK, if we dig deep here and get some results then we-ll be right up there.”
