The PGFC Academy Under-13s and Under-14s will both feature in Friday’s FFA National Youth Championship finals after continuing their excellent form on Day 4 of the prestigious tournament in Coffs Harbour.

The youngsters already have some silverware in the bag having been crowned Two-Star Academy National Champions following their performances against Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets on Thursday.

The Under-13s beat the Jets 2-0 courtesy of goals from Cueva and MacDougall and then drew  1-1 (Georges) with Roar, while the older age group downed Newcastle 2-1 (Hobson and Zivkovic) before coming from behind to defeat Brisbane by the same scoreline (Hobson and Feillafe).

Both teams will now face Football NSW Blue on Friday looking to round off the tournament in style and Academy Manager Callum Salmon is understandably delighted with how the week has gone.

“We believe that our performances at the National Championships have again reflected that Perth Glory FC is consistently producing high-level youth players who are also wonderfully mature individuals off the field,” he said.

“It has been a pleasure to be involved with them and I’d like to thank all our players, coaches and parents for their hard work throughout the year.

“No matter what happens on Friday, we’re looking forward to another competitive game in our young players’ development and another opportunity to continue improving and progressing both as players and people.”
