HBF Park panoramic

The fixtures for the A-League 2020/21 Season have been released and Glory Members and fans certainly have plenty to look forward to, including back-to-back home games in the opening two rounds of the new campaign and a run of four consecutive fixtures at HBF Park in May.

And there is further good news for those of a purple persuasion, with all of our summer games having evening kick-off times, ensuring that spectator comfort is not compromised by the heat.

Old foes Adelaide United will provide the opposition in our opening game on Saturday 16 January (kick-off at 6.20pm WST), with Glory’s start having been delayed in response to the squad being forced to spend two weeks in hotel quarantine following the conclusion of the AFC Champions League campaign.

Brisbane Roar are up next at HBF Park four days later (Wednesday 20 January at 6.20pm WST), before Richard Garciá’s men head to New South Wales to play three consecutive away games in the space of eight days against Western Sydney Wanderers, Wellington Phoenix (who will be based in NSW) and Newcastle Jets.

February, meanwhile, will see Glory play three times at home, with two of those fixtures against league new boys Macarthur Bulls FC and the other a clash with Melbourne Victory.

Away meetings with Wellington and Brisbane Roar get the month of March underway, before Glory settle into a more conventional home-away, home-away pattern for the next six rounds.

Glory’s first trip to one of our favourite away venues, AAMI Park, is scheduled for April 12th, versus Melbourne Victory and we’ll be back at the same ground a little over two weeks later to take on Melbourne City (April 28th).

May is the final month of the regular season and it is set to be an extremely busy one, featuring no fewer than six games.

First up is an away clash with Macarthur Bulls, followed by the run of four back-to-back home games on the 5th, 9th, 16th and 23rd when Western United, Adelaide United, Wellington Phoenix and Western Sydney Wanderers will provide the opposition.

The regular season will then conclude with a visit to Gosford to take on the Mariners on Sunday 30 May.

Glory CEO Tony Pignata is confident that Glory Members and fans will be pleased with the fixture list and he cannot wait for the new campaign to get underway.

“We’re all hugely excited at the prospect of the Glory family returning to HBF Park and once again creating what we believe is the best match day atmosphere in the country,” he said.

“Absence has definitely made the heart grow fonder as far as seeing our team playing here in Perth is concerned, so starting the season with two home games is especially welcome.

“Having four consecutive home games during the run-in to the end of the campaign is also a major plus.

“Afternoon kick-off times during the height of summer have long been a bugbear of our Members and fans, so we’re delighted to see that this issue has been resolved this year.

“On behalf of the club, I’d like to thank Football Federation Australia and the Leagues for all the hard work they have put into creating this draw in extremely challenging circumstances and urge our Members and fans to get on board for what I’m confident will be another season to remember.”
