2 days to go…

With only two days left until the Most Glorious Player awards night, the anticipation is mounting for who will win the most prestigious accolade for the club.

With only two days left until the Most Glorious Player awards night, the anticipation is mounting for who will win the most prestigious accolade for the club.

Over 500 people will pack into the Grand Ballroom at the Burswood Entertainment Complex to rub shoulders with Perth Glory stars including Captain Jacob Burns, Robbie Fowler, young gun Scott Neville, Mile Sterjovski and many more.

Four-time MGP winner and Perth Glory legend Bobby Despotovski believes Scott Neville will be the player to beat this year to take out the trophy.

“Scotty is a young boy, only in his second year, but I think he-s been playing very consistently and his willingness to go forward has been very good for the squad this season.

“He has been playing at right full back very sufficiently and he-s also played most of the games this season so he-ll be eligible for a lot of votes,” Despotovski said.

Past Perth Glory player and current team manager Ante Kovacevic agrees with Despotovski that Neville will be crowed the Most Glorious Player for 2010/11.

“I think Nevs has been the most consistent this year. He-s improved his game and was rewarded with the captain-s armband for his hard work.

“He-s becoming a leader and I think he-ll build on that as he gets more experience,” Kovacevic said.

Although Neville seems to be the favourite, Kovacevic says there are a couple of dark horses that could sneak in and take the glory.

“Todd Howarth has been another consistent performer this season. He-s been quite good and has played in a lot of games so he might be one to watch as well,” Kovacevic said.

The awards night will feature an exciting auction with plenty of fantastic items up for bidding. This includes a Versace suit, an all-expenses paid trip to Thailand and the ultimate fan experience to be a ‘squad man for a day-.

Perth Glory owner and Chairman Tony Sage is personally donating his Ferrari F430 Spider for the auction. The stunning car is valued at +AUD 300 000, is in showroom condition and has only done 4 000 kilometres on the clock.

A silent auction featuring the signed, actual playing boots of Scott Neville, Jacob Burns, Adriano Pellegrino and Robbie Fowler will be on offer, as well as signed playing gloves of goal keeper Tando Velaphi.
